Branded: Game Cafe, progress.

After interviewing Jon, the co-owner of the Game Cafe I very helpful insight on what I wanted to do for the branding. He told me what the place meant to him and what it meant to the clients. He also told me of what he wanted to communicate with the brand: Family friendly, casual, inclusive, fun.
And I want to agree with this, those seem like fitting keywords with what the space offers and embodies.

Developing into brand concepts I came up with three moods that are able to fulfill the expectations that Jon has for the brand:

Linework seems as very appealing trent which yes, it can come to pass sooner than later but it also has the quality to become very resilient to time if taken away from trend elements such as color palettes and illustration styles. It can be unique in its own way while using the inspiration from complex and visually stimulating compositions.

3D illustration allows to create very engaging design that is visually stimulating and capable of creating interesting positive negative space interactions. This qualities could make the brand distinctive and memorable while at the same time containing the features and the essence of the store.

A much more simpler but not less meaningful approach would come from corporate branding inspirations. Logos that are memorable, easy to remember and to translate in to multiple brand platforms can be a very powerful asset. The main challenge would be to create something that looks simple, clean and at the same time casual/friendly.

Here is some early explorations with the moods + concepts.
